B234SR120M-A Universal Ballast - F34T12 or F40T12 Fluorescent Tubes

Have replaced 7 failing magnetic ballasts so far with these electronic units. Easy to install and all 7 worked perfectly when fired up.

Thanks to Ballast Shop, it was easy to find my replacement ballast at a very fair price with quick flat-rate shipping. Wow, these electronic replacement ballasts are much better than the old magnetic ballasts, since they are apparently 20% more efficient, basically silent, much more compact and lighter (only the 9.5" length is the same), start up instantly, and contain no tar (with PCBs). When old magnetic ballast fail, they overheat and melt the tar that was used as an insulator. When melted, the tar can drip out. EPA banned the manufacturing of PCBs in 1978 and all new ballasts were mandated to list "No PCBs" on the label. PCBs in sufficient quantities have been proven to cause cancer and interrupt the nervous or immune system. The quantity level is debatable, but it seems it is treated like asbestos by the EPA. In other words, follow medical advice and protect yourself from this hazardous material. Dispose of old magnetic ballasts according to state laws. I bought three ballasts, and replacement was very easy matching up the two yellow to yellow, two red to red, and two blue to blue. It does not matter which same color wire you match up. In addition, you match up the white to white (neutral) and black to black (positive). Make sure your power source is turned off before handling the wires. If your ballasts are pre-1978 (magnetic with PCBs), you should replace them now and not wait until they fail and the tar starts to leak (plus all the other mentioned benefits). Of course, there are newer products now, such as T-8s and LEDs, so you may consider replacing the whole fixture. Thank you Ballast Shop!

I received the items quickly. They looked pretty much the same as the old one but much lighter. They fit in the space perfectly. After all connections were made, they worked quickly and wonderfully. I would fully recommend them.

When I went to the website to find replacement ballasts for my fluorescent fixture, ballastshop.com informed me that the magnetic ballast I was looking for was no longer available. I was directed to this electronic ballast. I bought two ballasts for my four-lamp fixture. They arrived quickly (four days) and they were easy to install and they were exactly what I needed.
